Law and Order

Police: We need the police presence that provides the security that is needed in a town like Wincanton. A police force, that is visible and accessible to everyone. To this end, the police station must be open and manned at all reasonable times.

CCTV: We need a CCTV system, which is effective and covers the most vulnerable areas of the town. The system has to comply with all the legal requirements of data protection, but at the same time must be good enough to assist the police in obtaining a conviction. I will work for a system suitable to the town, and towards the financial support that is needed.

Community Involvement: The security of our town and the community depends on we who live here. We can't walk past on the other side of the road and ignore what is happening. That is the route to anarchy, and the destruction of the weakest among our residents. Neighborhood Watch and Shop Watch are areas where we should all be involved.

Anti Social Behavior: Vandalism, Litter, and other anti social behavior is mostly carried out by members of our own community. We need the help of the whole community to stamp it out. No section of the community can plead it is nothing to do with them, we are all involved. The schools, the pubs, the supermarkets, the fast food outlets, all have their part to play, but most of all it is we the residents who have to stand up and make our town clean, safe and an environment we can be proud of.
